“Mr. Pearson will bring to the PSS board a range of talents in such areas as economic development, entrepreneurship, management and finance,” said Anne Shenberger, President and CEO of PSS. “His contributions will be a great asset as we continue our work toward improving the health and well-being of Philadelphia’s children.”

 

Mr. Pearson founded Union Packaging, LLC in 1999. UP manufactures folding cartons in FDA regulated packaging industries. It is one of the fastest growing minority-owned packaging companies in the U.S. 

 

Prior to founding UP, Mr. Pearson directed the Pharmaceutical and Personal Care Team for Westvaco’s (known today as MeadWestvaco) Consumer Packaging Division. Before joining Westvaco, he marketed pharmaceutical products for Pfizer, Inc.

 

In 2007, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency selected Union Packaging as the Minority Manufacturer of the Year. Also in 2007, the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce honored Mr. Pearson and Union Packaging with a Manufacturer of the Year award. In 2006, Burger King Corporation selected Union Packaging as Supplier of the Year for outstanding performance in their procurement system.

 

Mr. Pearson is a member of the Advisory Board for the U.S. Small Business Administration National Small Business Development Center. He is a board member and prior President (2004) of the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce; a member of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce Business Executive Board of Directors; and a board member of the Delaware Valley Industrial Resource Center. He is also a member of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County and the Team Pennsylvania Foundation boards.

 

Mr. Pearson served in the United States military as combat duty Army Officer in the Persian Gulf War where he received the Bronze Star and the Southwest Asiatic Campaign Medal. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. He is originally from West Philadelphia and was raised in Lansdowne, PA.
